INANIMATE FLESH
Compilationem Morborum Exoticorum

The Costa Rican scene is one of those that never ceases to surprise due to the quality of its bands within the entire global underground. And here, I will talk about one of those bands that, with only three years since their debut, has already made clear what they came for. INANIMATE FLESH is (without a doubt) a cauldron from which the putrefaction, sickness and aggressiveness of pure and hard Central American Death Metal evaporates. This June 2026, the Chinese label Thanatology Productions has done a massive job releasing this compilation called “Compilationem Morborum Exoticorum” so that collectors from all over the world can acquire it in physical CD format. This release acts as a complete forensic archive, gathering the material that this pathological duo has been brewing in the shadows. To understand INANIMATE FLESH, we must look at its anatomy: Zodiac handles the instruments with a calculated violence, while María Gutiérrez delivers the vocals with pure and unadulterated venom. What we have here is a 16 track autopsy that rescues their two digital demos from 2023 and injects six completely new pieces of medical horror at the beginning. The transition throughout the compilation is a descent into a clinic of diseases. The lyrical department is a point to highlight; it completely avoids generic gore clichés to focus on decay. Reading the lines of tracks like ‘Necrotizing Fasciitis’ (originally released on their 2023 debut demo “Obscene Omentum Overture”), with its descriptions of oozing pus and ulcers, or ‘Ichthyosis’ narrating the slow shedding of scaly skin due to faulty genes, continues the lyrical tradition of the genre in an exceptional way, and the music perfectly mirrors the physical discomfort being spoken of. It is a persisting barrage of pathological Goregrind and primitive Death Metal in which the guitars seem like rusted scalpels and the rhythm sections sound like an emergency room in absolute chaos. “Compilationem Morborum Exoticorum” sounds raw, disturbing and deeply rooted in the old school tradition of medical Grind. I must admit that I have been caught in this sick atmosphere. By rooting the history of their past demos with this compilation, INANIMATE FLESH has delivered an essential physical release that smells of formaldehyde and underground devotion. An absolutely mandatory acquisition for anyone who finds beauty in these types of bands and thematics. Definitely recommended! Give these guys a try!
