INANIMATE FLESH
Obscene Omentum Overture
(Seeds Of Torment)
06:48min

From Costa Rica comes this Grindcore band, consisting of only two members, which also incorporates some Death Metal elements in their ultra-short songs. Vocalist Maria and multi-instrumentalist Zodiac like it short, hard and brutal and bang out seven songs in 6:48 minutes. Especially the abysmal growling of the front woman impresses, who surely belongs to the most brutal singers in the world. None of the songs is longer than 91 seconds, the shortest only 34 seconds. INANIMATE FLESH actually manage that their songs don’t all sound the same, as it often – intentionally – happens in the Grindcore area. This makes the seven songs a lot of fun and desire for more, but unfortunately they are, like the whole EP, just too short. The whole thing is like having sex with the absolute dream woman and then climaxing after a few seconds (not that that ever happened to me). You want more, want to dive into the work, but it is immediately over again. The duo proves that they really have something up their sleeve, write songs that sound “catchy” despite all the harshness, brevity and brutality. They even sound quite unique for a Grindcore band and ensure that the listener remains enthusiastic and excited. “Obscene Omentum Overture” is successful all around. After the not even 7 minutes of playing time you want to get more from Maria and Zodiac. In this respect, the EP, intended as a demo, works first class. It arouses curiosity and interest in the band, which has created its own thing from limited stylistic means, which comes along faithfully and yet sounds original and fresh. A feat that not every genre representative can write on his flag. https://inanimatefleshcr.bandcamp.com, https://instagram.com/seedsoftorment
