MINOTAUR
Re-Recorded MMXXI

Right from the moment MINOTAUR opens with ‘Cannonballfire’ you know this is going to be a kickass ride! This German band has roots firmly in the old school Thrash Metal spirit and does not swerve one bit from their path. This EP is essentially 4 re-recorded tracks from their last full length “God May Show You Mercy… We Will Not” and the band does an excellent job at it. Think 80s teutonic Thrash and put MINOTAUR next to it and you would essentially not be able to point one out from the other. I quite like the vocalist actually. The drumming and the riffs seem to have been done all before but I’m not complaining or am I looking for an absolute standout, this is just fine. I’d sure thrash out if I saw them live in a local pub which would be an ideal setup. At 14 minutes this is just sufficient and the band technically has nothing to prove, granted MINOTAUR by themselves haven’t really seen the 80s light shine on them like a few of their counterparts. However, now is a good time as any to put in a little muscle to the method and embrace a little evolution on the approach. I’d sure like to hear more of their music and will perhaps dig into their earlier releases. Quality execution on the whole, but you know you’ve heard this before. Give it a spin for sure!
