NAZGHOR from Uppsala is another newcomer playing harsh and fast melodic Black Metal, which easily would have fitted in the label program of No Fashion Records. "Life Impaled" seems to be a re-release of 1-2 demo recordings. After a short intro, the opener ‘Black Shadow Of Death’ comes over us with a freezing atmosphere, blast beat drums and pounding double bass and a catchy lead melody with rhythm guitars somewhere between first AMON AMARTH and MÖRK GRYNING. ‘The Throne Of Darkness’ with its harsh shouted Hardcore style screams reminds me once again of "Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds". ‘Devil Inside’ for me is one the hits of the album, slowly beginning with a Death’n’Roll guitar sound before turning into a blast beat massacre, showing the quality of the musicians, jumping between uptempo and slow motion. ‘Impious’ and ‘Baptized In Blood’ remind me of all the releases I enjoyed from No Fashion and Wrong Again, when I was a kid. ‘Sanguinem Bibimus’ opens the second part of the album, followed by ‘At The Flames Of Conversion’, ‘Profanatory: On A Blasphemous Earth’ and the title track ‘Life Impaled’, all fine melodic black metal hymns. The sound of the recording is only of mid class demo quality but the material is on a high level and if you are into 90s stuff be quick and get one of the CDs, since it is limited to 500 copies only. www.facebook.com/pages/nazghor/144957632333284, www.deadcenter666.com
