One of the oldest flag troopers for the Finnish Death Metal scene, NECROPSY, have been resurrected from the dead – and the "Psychopath Next Door" EP is the band’s 2nd release since they collected their bones back together on "Bloodwork"; NECROPSY’s debut full-length studio album that they released on a small Tritonus Records in 2011. Since then some doors were opened for NECROPSY a bit more even: Century Media Records wanted to release all the band’s past demo + EP recordings in luxurious packages, both as 3-CD + 4-LP ("Tomb Of The Forgotten – The Complete Demo Recordings") in 2013, which obviously also helped to get NECROPSY’s name a little bit back on people’s dry lips again. This new 4-track EP, "Psychopath Next Door", basically counts on the same recipe that NECROPSY had adopted for the "Bloodwork" album. 4 songs of pure and relatively technical old school Death Metal is what NECROPSY bring us on "Psychopath Next Door", still sounding surprisingly hungry and enthusiastic enough as far as these four new songs are concerned. In other words, if you just have ever become familiar with the past stuff of this semi-legendary Finnish Death Metal bunch NECROPSY, you may already have a pretty good idea what to expect from them. ‘Twist To Kill’, the 3rd song off this EP, is perhaps the most progressive track NECROPSY have composed for a little while. The guitars especially have a nice twist to them, which they should consider doing a bit more with their future stuff, I think. Then again, there’s nothing wrong with any of the EP’s other 3 songs either. The title track of this teaser EP for NECROPSY’s untitled 2nd full-length album for example – to be released sometime in 2014, offers an injection of heads-chopping Death Metal, the truest NECROPSY style. It’s a good and respectable thing to notice NECROPSY haven’t really changed much over these past years but stayed somewhat loyal to their original sound, and not giving a damn what people might think of them. So, in the meantime, get "Psychopath Next Door" for yourself ’til they have some new material available again.
