The European edition of "When Chaos Reigns", the third album by NO RAZA from Colombia, is published via the Russian label GS Productions. Once more a positive effect of the world wide web and the possibility to connect people all over the globe sharing the same interests. As a bonus this edition comes along with the five tracks from the "Misantropia" EP. If my information are correct the band was founded back in 1997, but during the last 18 years I never took notice of NO RAZA. And still, while writing these lines, without an answer if I missed something or not. The positive elements of "When Chaos Reigns" are the powerful and transparent sound, the balanced proportions of mid-tempo Thrash Metal and up-tempo Death Metal, just like the older VADER releases. Accordingly there are some very nice and well-played guitar solos, which sound pretty melodic and could fit into any Metal genre. The Thrash Metal parts are in the vein of late 1980s German bands like SODOM and KREATOR, the Death Metal pieces can be compared to the above mentioned VADER, neither typical Swedish nor American like. Comparing the songs of the album and the EP, there are simply no differences, besides a slightly rougher sound on the EP. The only negative aspect about this release is the complete absence of remarkable songs. Remarkable in the sense of some catchy tunes you remember after listening. Do not get me wrong, we are talking about the last percents to make an album not just average but above average and for me these last percentages are missing. But definitely a "must hear" for all those who like this special blend of Thrash and Death Metal. This edition is, like the latest releases by GS Productions, limited to 100 digipak CDs, for whatever reason.
