Split EP

Brazil’s old school Crossover beasts NUCLEAR WEAPON 77 (or N.W.77 for short) are back. Two years after their first offer, the EP "Doomsday Countdown", they bring us new stuff fresh from the school of 1987. This time they did a split mini CD, that is extremely limited to only 100 physical copies. Four new tracks were recorded for this EP, that have a rougher, yet a little tighter production than the EP. The opening ‘Freeloader’ comes along in best tradition with barking vocals and a SUICIDAL groove in the end. Then ‘Broken Teeth’ has a vibe of NUCLEAR ASSAULT in the riffing. ‘Warriors Against The World’ is for all those who love the early AGNOSTIC FRONT albums that added a Metal feeling to the classic New York Hardcore trademarks, and the song includes a typical shout along chorus. Finally the cool title track ‘Youth Explosion’ ends the fun just too soon. Again it can only be stated that N.W.77 have nothing spectacularly new to offer, but their sound is a refreshening blast from the past. For this split CD, N.W.77 teamed up with the one-man band AGAMENON PROJECT, that is Brazil’s answer to AGATHOCLES. Which means that main man Arthu does not only play Grindcore, but he also runs a band with countless releases, according to their homepage it’s about 80 releases (mainly splits) since 2007. I never heard of AGAMENON PROJECT before, but I doubt if I missed anything here, since it is pure Grindcore, and if you dig AGATHOCLES, you might dig AGAMENON PROJECT, too. But I’m not that much into pure, old school Grind except for the originators and some exceptions like WORMROT or INSECT WARFARE, so songs like ‘Yes, We… What A Fuck’ or ‘Population Control’ don’t appeal to me.
