Conceptually speaking, this must be one of the most daring projects I’ve witnessed within the Metal scene. Personally I don’t view Mozart as the most Metal-related classical music composer, though his Requiem has some major sections. So, the question that has to be asked is if this connection works? The music and the lyrics have to relate and bring my mind back to the age of the composer. And no, I’m not going back in time at all while listening to “Mozartia”. Then, try to view from a different angle and see if I can relate this to Mozart of today. Well, if that should be, Sacriversum would definitely have to make an incredibly skilled album where all ingredients should be perfect matched to each other. So, as this doesn’t do wonders I have to explain why it didn’t work. The female vocals are way too weak. I’m not saying she doesn’t have a beautiful voice, I’m saying that she simply doesn’t do her vocalization with conviction and strength. And when the male vocals are basically the standard Metal growling we all know from too many other bands, the listening turns out to be less of a happening. The fact that each song is more or less versions of the same track do not help at all, except for the final track which is all piano and some effects here and there. And there you have it. Rather unimaginable Metal with a Gothic touch that doesn’t go anywhere. So, despite the interesting concept the album fails. I wonder though, if they included some of Mozart’s visions…
