Well, this debut by the Norwegian Black Metal outfit SARKOM is some kind of two-face affair. On the one hand the band did a good job. They play this kind of Swedish Black Metal, which has become famous by bands like MARDUK or DARK FUNERAL. The band emphasizes on the fact, that no keyboards or any other kind of synthetic influences can be found. Production and musicianship are well done. But (and this is a big BUT) do we really need another MARDUK clone? If they would have published this CD back in the early / mid ’90s SARKOM would have catapulted themselves into the premier Black Metal league. But the world keeps turning, it is 2005 and there are more mediocre Black Metal bands than anyone can count. So everyone is free to make up his / her own mind, but for me this album is unnecessary, although well done.
