SEVERED SAVIOR
Brutality Is Law

I was really looking forward to check these guys out as Stefan already praised their previous release “Forced To Bleed” in quite a big way (as you can easily find out for yourself above). And damn, he was absolutely right! SEVERED SAVIOR is another proof of the healthiness of Americas brutal Death Metal underground. No real suprise actually – the band in its enirety is already working under the name SEVERED SAVIOR for more than five years by now (and beyond that as CHRIST DENIED), while guitarist Jared Deaver previously used to gain lots of experiences in fellow Death Metal lunatics DEEDS OF FLESH. So, what we got here is another very promising band to keep an eye on if you’re into the devastating and extremely crushing and brutal US Death Metal sound. Luckily SEVERED SAVIOR neither mutilate their material by coming up with this disgusting “frog-noise” type of vocals (like many current bands of the new US Death Metal generation), nor do they play full force ahead all the way through, like HATE ETERNAL and the likes. As Stefan already pointed out quite perfectly, Dusty’s extremely brutal vocals often remind on Glen Benton’s, while the songwriting in itself is extremely skilled, with lots of technical details incorporated, yet performed in a very intense manner. Mostly very fast, but to avoid the effect of sounding monotonous or repetitive, the guys always throw in interesting breaks or cool guitar pieces – which generally works out killer and never destroys the high energy level in any way. The album title perfectly sums it all up, while the great production and another genious piece of artwork (once again courtesy of Jon Zig) complete the overall very good picture.
