SOULCARRION
Infernal Agony

Poland has unleashed a number of great bands in the past and SOULCARRION is proof that this country keeps delivering the goods. They have just released their debut album through Godz Ov War Productions. Both members of the band, Greg (lead guitars) and Michal (rhythm guitars, bass and drum programming) know exactly what they are doing. This is dense, heavy and obscure Death Metal. Sure, there is an obvious influence from other bands from their country. Most Polish bands have some of it up to a certain point. But the bands that really stand out know exactly how to add a twist to their music, just like SOULCARRION does in “Infernal Agony”. They add slow (almost Doom Metal) parts and eerie melodic riffs in between the full fledged speed attack. Mateusz Sibila (VISHURDDHA) is the guest vocalist. He provides really deep growls that blend with the music and the overall atmosphere. Greg’s sharp and detailed leads fit perfectly within Michal’s solid riffing. Although the bass is a little buried in the mix, it has enough power to support both the guitars and the drums. Production wise, I would’ve liked a more organic sound just for the sake of variation from song to song. But that is just me. Nonetheless, “Infernal Agony” sounds massive, just like modern Death Metal is supposed to sound. A huge and agressive wall of distorted guitars and bass with pounding drums and abysmal vocals. Solid album. Nothing more, nothing less. You can check both the band and their label here: www.facebook.com/godzovwar
