Division Mortality

If you want to point out a country that contributed significantly to the survival and resurgence of Heavy Metal during and after the nineties of the last century, then it is Greece! SPEEDRUSH join a long line of bands who have taken the old school spirit in deeply, but not only preserve the fire, but carry it on. Songs like ‘Ride With Death’, ‘Feeding The Carnivores’ or the scratchy and very organic sounding ‘Divine Damnation’ do operate somewhere between classic Heavy Metal and early Speed and Thrash Metal, and even if they sometimes remind of RAZOR, IRON MAIDEN or even DESTRUCTION or KREATOR due to some of Mike Sifringers typical guitar riffs or the singer’s phrasing remembering young Mille, the result sounds remarkably independent, the music always strives to create a sort of very own recognition value. The open boundaries between the individual styles that characterized Metal so much in its early days, prove to be a real advantage on “Division Mortality” time and time again. Songs like ‘Beyond The Vortex’ or ‘Blood Legacy’ for example, combines this youthful, impetuous energy of early Thrash Metal with melodic solos and atmospheric moments that were more common to be found in classic Heavy Metal or even taken from ’70s Hardrock. This turns out to be a pretty cool recording, which offers a lot of different sound moments within a really heavy, almost thrashin’ Metal album. The cover of the record features a guy with a machete splitting a skull. Also exactly in the vein of the style of the ones who came long before. Go and get you a copy! It is available on vinyl as well, as a very limited edition – so hurry up! www.facebook.com/speedrushmetal, www.facebook.com/jawbreakerrecords
