It’s nice to know that not too far off the heels of 2013’s "Evocation Of Light", which was a solid touch of Black / Death mastery, STORTREGN have returned with "Singularity", a welcome continuation from this Swiss band. If you like a little majesty to your Metal, then this album may be for you. The building glory in the first few seconds becomes a shattering blast of fist-pumping power in the opener ‘Enlighten Salvation’. Track two, ‘Acosmic Ascendant’, doesn’t let up. The swirling guitar-drenching brilliance levels off after the first minute, but doesn’t sway too far from the brick-in-the-head wake up call STORTREGN are producing. ‘Crimson Depths’ features blood-curdling deep growls from vocalist Romain. ‘Vertigo’ carries on the wave of ugly beauty. Johan’s guitars are a mind-bending array of technique, melody, bone-crushing riffs, and sonic power throughout the album. Tracks like ‘Omega Rising’ and ‘Black Moon Silhouette’ are breathtaking. STORTREGN could have easily named this album "Solidity" as there are no weak tracks present. And another fine cover by mastermind Juanjo Castellano Rosado. Can we just nominate him for all future Metal album covers, please? For more info, check out www.stortregn.com, www.facebook.com/stortregn, www.non-serviam-records.com.
