SWAMP CULT

The Dutch duo SWAMP CULT is something different, maybe something special. It’s not the fact that both members hide their real names behind an initial and cover themselves with mud, so to say corpsepaint in a different way. It’s the music that makes the difference. SWAMP CULT play a kind of basic Black Doom Metal with a vibe that reminds of the extreme and obscure Metal bands of the 1980s. Does it help to describe them as a mix of SAINT VITUS, RIPPER, HELLHAMMER, DIE KREUZEN, EXORCIST and THERESA LYNN? Well, you should of course change the latter to your local forgotten Thrash Metal demo band that played just one gig or two… This description might help to have a vast idea of the unique sound of SWAMP CULT. Anything beyond depends on how much you as the listener will be ready to get yourself into a really odd band that does their own thing without compromise. Songs like the weird ‘Chapter V – The Rite’ or the doomy creeper ‘Chapter VII – The Dawning’ need a little time to unfold their magic. If you give the album enough time to develop its full aura, you will be fully pleased by “The Festival” and the atmospheric, Lovecraftian horror story it tells. It’s an album that will not be loved by the mainstream, but by those who are odd enough to understand the special character of that special band.
