TERRIFIER

This is the third album from this hard thrashin’ trio from Kelowna in British Columbia, Canada. It might as well be that the band members are the biggest TESTAMENT fan club in Canada. That would at least explain, why they sound like they do. Erik Peterson and Alex Skolnick might be the main reference to name, when we need to explain the typical Bay Area sound, with super fast but melodious played guitars, that TERRIFIER almost constantly use on this album. ‘Trial By Combat’ is not just the title of the opening song, which might sound Metal to the bone, it definitely is. Power chords forward, an absolutely headbanging chorus with cool gang shouts, melodic but heavy guitars, which shred all over the place, plus a skilled feeling for sound in the solo. That is the red thread, the band pulls through all of their songs. Sometimes a bit unexpected like in the beginning of ‘Grinding The Blade’, before the song turns even a bit into a MEGADETH direction. Their sound always aims for some good mosh-pit when groove meets brutality, like in ‘Perpetual Onslaught’ or ‘Death And Decay’. While playing this song, it’s funny to recognize, that singer Chase sometimes sounds like a young Mille Petrozza of KREATOR. ‘Depths Of The Storm Scepter’ or ‘Dawn Of The Slaughter’ if anyone needs more evidences. Maybe those three are also the smallest KREATOR fan club in Canada? Who knows… Great album! Nothing new of course, but the old stuff recycled rather well. It definitely transports the old school spirit. www.facebook.com/terrifierthrashers, www.facebook.com/empirerecordsbe
