Extreme Metal. It is not Death Metal. It is not Black Metal. Neither is Thrash or Speed…and in this case, neither it is Industrial Metal…but then again you know it is a mixture of all this. The Speed / Black / Death Metal parts are OK with me. The industrial part is not. The drums, even if there seems to be a human drummer sound way too synthetic… such description also fit the whole recording. Although the overall concept visual and lyrical might as well be the right one for the disturbing music, I just cannot make things out as a coherent full concept. The industrial part is probably the main reason… or the at times Death Grind parts that sound way too perfect for its own good… at times this reminds me of those bands wrongly labeled “Math Metal” brutal Death bands… CRYPSTOPSY, GORGUTS and such… there is also a quite chaotic edge to it all, reminding a bit to their landmates (Australia that’s it) PORTAL… in fact their less industrial sounding songs and quite their “slower” ones seem to be more coherent to me like ‘Obliterate’s Prayer´… after more than one listening things seems to get a bit more coherent… but I just cannot get with the heavy industrial influence present so much… and this kind of production that sounds too polished cannot be good… fans of brutal Industrial Death Metal will get into it, as they do have some good riffs and ideas, but me, I prefer the single 4-5 riffs in a song with a more organic sound, thank you. www.listenable.net, www.facebook.com/theamenta
