Feral Creation

This is probably THORIUM’s make-it-or-break-it album? Everything looks here as it is done in the best possible way: the sound is fuckin’ killer (recorded in famous Berno Studios and mixed by Jacob Hansen) and no one less than Dan Seagrave took care of the cover. It’s great to see Seagrave covers now more regular again. He’s still THE Death Metal drawer, if you ask me, though I have to admit that I don’t like his current style comparing to his way of drawing in the early nineties. The older paintings with all its grimaces were simply more suitable for a Death Metal record. Never mind, probably I’m alone here with this opinion, and without doubts the quality of the painting here is just awesome and fits very good to this album. This is THORIUM’s third CD release and I’m afraid to say that this is the first time I get to hear THORIUM at all, therefore I can’t compare this recording to their first 2 recordings but what I can say is that “Feral Creation” is a fuckin’ catchy recording. The sound kicks fuckin’ ass and the 10 songs including the intro ‘Int(r)o The Abyss’ simply roll over you. To call THORIUM’s style of Metal “old school Death Metal” as it is written on the infosheet from the label is in my ears completely wrong, though. This third output is more or less a groovemonster par excellence with a rather modern approach. Probably the band will kill me for this, but that’s something a person like me has to deal with, haha. Anyhow, this album is a perfect recording for persons who are looking for a Death Metal record with a fuckin’ great sound, well played and with catchy songs. The only thing I miss here is an outstanding track! To finish this review I have to say that THORIUM is a band which might be a killer live band, the music they play sounds perfectly suitable for that! Check it out! www.mightymusic.dk
