THORIUM
Ocean Of Blasphemy

I guess when it comes to the Danish scene my prejudices weren’t completely justified, as no less than two bands from up there really impressed me a lot lately! And it’s pure coincidence that both are even labelmates… One was the almighty INIQUITY and the other is THORIUM, also a brutal Death Metal quintet that consists of members from WITHERED SURFACE and TAETRE (two bands that I honestly never really cared for…). I just hope that the guys will concentrate exclusively on THORIUM in the future (right now it’s still considered a project kinda thing), cause the ten songs on the album “Ocean Of Blasphemy” really kick fuckin’ ass! What you get is straight forward US-style Death Metal, very brutal and incredibly well executed by a bunch of skilled musicians. It’s weird to find out that the fat production was achieved in Norway’s Grieghallen Studio, as that location mostly got famous for the typical Norwegian Black Metal stuff in the past. Well, THORIUM is also a pretty blasphemous and extremely tight unit, but I bet they will appeal a lot more to most of you reading this, than the grim stuff by IMMORTAL, EMPEROR and the likes. This is pure Death Metal the way it was meant to be played: raw, intense and always right into your face! A welldone cover of the old DEICIDE classic “Lunatic Of God’s Creation” closes this very promising debut and (in case you’re interested) the sleeve features another nice piece of art by Mr. Joe Petagno. Extremely promising!
