This album’s great, fellas! I didn’t know this act before – although these guys are Germany-based. THORNESBREED commence this effort with a very simple and spherical song which is called ‘Unchaining Hatred’. I think they just use one riff in it, developing it during a prolonged phase so that it becomes really creepy and mean. Every now and then there are plain soloing passages in this killer song, adding new dimensions to it. Generally speaking, one can state that THORNESBREED sound very old-school in a refreshing manner. At times, they sound very intricate and complex, reminding me a bit of great acts such as NILE, VILE and the likes. This impression set in when they increase their speed and compositional complexity. But then there are these awesome mid-paced parts, with evil melodies and powerful staccato pickings. Well – and this of course, reminds me of brilliant old-school veterans like MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION, SADISTIC INTENT and so on and so forth. So basically a good combination that is presented here. I appreciate such music ’cause it comes along with a genuine and professional production, good song writing and a dark atmosphere that can be deemed as hypnotic if you know what I mean. Definitely one of acts in Germany one should pay heed to… good one! Contact: www.animate-records.com, animate-records@web.de
