International blackened Death Metal super group TRIBE OF PAZUZU have just unleashed their highly anticipated debut album under the Vic Records banner. Consisting of Nick Sagias (ex – PESTILENCE), Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY) and Randy Harris (ex – MACIFECATION) the band has also invited the following to help with the debut album: Jorgen Sandstrom (ex – ENTOMBED / ex – GRAVE), Luc Lemay (GORGUTS) and Christian Donaldson (CRYPTOPSY). I mean with a line-up like that and guest musicians you know this album is just going to tear it up. I enjoyed the band’s previous EPs (2019’s “Heretical Uprising” and 2020’s “King Of All Demons”) so it was much to my amazement that this debut album got into my inbox. The cover artwork is badass with a hint of Gustave Dore. From the first song ‘We Serve Under No God’ you could tell the production was great with each instrument being recognizable. The drums are on point (but then again when has Flo ever disappointed??), the guitars are sick with guitar solos galore and the vocals brutal. Super solid sound right off the bat, Christian Donaldson did a great job with producing / mixing / mastering this album. Let’s dive in to the rest of the album to get a full view of what these talented musical conspirators crank out. ‘Invocation Of The Ancients’ summons a “Formulas…” era MORBID ANGEL with a sleuth of guitar solos that would easily go toe to toe with anything the duo of Azagthoth / Brunelle (R.I.P) cranked out. No joke, if you didn’t know who was on guitars on this album you would easily think it was the classic duo from “Altars Of Madness”. Blistering tracks like ‘Pazuzu Incarnate’, ‘Countess Of Blood’ and ‘Towards Oppressors’ will devastate your mind and obliterate your ears. ‘Born Of Jackal’ really stands out to me as the song that really showcases the band in all its glory. In summary, WOW! Just WOW! This album killed, crushed, decimated and conquered in under 30 minutes. This collaboration of elder extreme music statesmen is the blueprint of what consists of a supergroup. They brought their “A” game on this album and what a great way to make a debut. I was a fan of their previous EPs but this debut album just kicked things into a higher gear. Do yourself a favor and check this album out, it will not disappoint!
