Primal Revelation

What could be the reason to write a review about a 3 year old recording? There are 2 reasons: first up it’s a damned good CD and 2nd reason is that I heard their new song ‘Cold, Bleak And Dead’ to be featured on the "Resurrected In Festering Slime" compilation. This song forced my interest a lot to hear also older stuff from this band. Even if this new song is superior to their old stuff (which makes me wanna hear more new songs) "Primal Revelation" is a very good demo CD. These 5 guys from Norway are really out for professionalism. Their logo is drawn from famous Christophe Szpajdel, the cover comes out of the hands of Kristian Wahlin and the overall layout looks better than on many professional label releases. The sound is just perfect for a demo recording (though the sound of this new track is even mightier than on this release). The 9 songs on this CD offer Death Metal in a way not comparable at all to the neither Scandinavian nor American Death Metal movement. It’s rhythm based Death Metal, mostly midtempo speed with a awesome voice which can only come from a Scandinavian vocalist. That’s a fact. Even if we are talking about a brutal and very deep voice the words are clear and understandable. By the way, the vocalist Kent Are Sommerseth sings also for the Spanish old school Death Metalists UNCONSECRATED. UNSPOKEN offers a lot with this release and even more is up to come I’m sure. Guess a new recording is already in the pipe so check out this CD and keep your eyes open for a new release. Take a look at www.myspace.com/unspokennorway
