URGEHAL
The Eternal Eclipse - 15 Years Of Satanic Black Metal
(Agonia Records)
36:45min

Some of you Black Metal lunatics probably still have URGEHAL’s most current full length “Goatcraft Torment” on their shopping lists, as it was released only a couple of months ago… But due to the fact that the band celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, Agonia Records have put out this compilation of rare and partly unreleased material. The overall quality of the songs is surprisingly good (which is not really a common thing with releases like this) and apart from a rather superfluous 1995 rehearsal recording of the “Arma Christi” track ‘Bloodhunt’ the rest of the record offers a lot of goodies. Starting off with three unreleased tracks from the “Goatcraft Torment” session (‘Guds Fortapelse – Apenbaring Av Dommedag’, ‘The Moors Of Death’ and ‘We Are Unholy’ – why they didn’t make it on the regular album is a mystery to me and needs to be cleared in the upcoming interview), followed by the two songs of the “Demon Rape” 7″ EP (‘Demon Rape’ and ‘Serpent Messiah’), then URGEHAL’s contribution to the split EP with BEASTCRAFT (‘Nekromisantrop’), a VON cover (‘Veadtuck’, from the “A Norwegian Hail To VON” double split 7″ with NORWEGIAN EVIL, AMOK and TAAKE) and last but not least a newly recorded version of the “Arma Christi” classic ‘The Eternal Eclipse’. The booklet features a lot of old pictures as well as the lyrics, while the black & white frontcover comes in true DARKTHRONE fashion and fits perfectly to this grim collection. So, there’s no doubt about it that URGEHAL fans need this one as well! www.agoniarecords.com
