Anyone who manages to sound completely original in the year 2026, when you have already heard everything at some point in some way or another, has already accomplished an exquisite work. The applause belongs to Thomas Haugeneder, the mastermind behind SLAVESON from Austria. Active since the late 1990s “Heraklit” is being described as the band’s darkest, most intense and emotionally charged work to date. One might think it is just the usual empty advertising rhetoric. But no, this is really the matter at hand, both musically and emotionally. Since song-by-song reviews are tiring for me, and everyone writes the reviews they themselves like to read, I’ll attempt a small summary of the incredible spectrum of music. Generally spoken the base is Death Metal, with a drum sound that takes some time getting used to. But after a few listens, you think there could not be a more fitting sound. The songwriting seems hectic and chaotic at first, but in the second and third moments, well-thought-out compositions are revealed that really captivate the listener. A wild interplay of melodic playfulness and raw outbursts. This productive fragmentation is also evident in the singing, which covers pretty much everything there is in extreme Metal. What excites me most is how seamlessly the music meanders from almost Grindcore like parts into early Death Metal, only to end up on slower, more atmospheric Black Metal paths, not to forget some fine Thrash Metal riffs. Absolutely amazing, the call “Support the underground” has never been more appropriate than for this self-produced and self-financed album. Do not hesitate and visit https://slaveson.bandcamp.com
