Who’s out there for a quick fix of pure, adrenaline infusing Speed / Thrash?? Yeah, if you like Thrash Metal then you should definitely check out AGGRESSION from Spain. “Moshpirit” is their debut album and it has everything – fast, catchy riffs, lots changes, some amazing solos, solid and perfectly clear production, at times even a bit too polished for me, but that’s not bad. AGGRESSION draws heavily from EXODUS, DESTRUCTION and ARTILLETRY, their singer also has a very distinct, high-pitched vocal style, once again, it could be a bit more varied, towards the end of the album it starts to annoy a little, but if you like that sort of singing, then you’ll definitely be pleased. It even has Ed Repka painted cover, just to show you how much AGGRESSION admires all things Thrash! So what’s the verdict on this one? “Moshpirit” is great in a most standard way. You want well performed, fiery Thrash? Go get it. But… after playing it at least 5-6 times, I can’t imagine throwing it into my player again for one simple reason – there are no songs that hold my attention, songs I’d like to hear again. It goes by furiously, riffs are good, playing good, production good but something special (i.e. songwriting) which would make me go “WOW, fuck!”, is missing. Still, bearing in mind, that this is their first album, it’s definitely well worth checking out. www.myspace.com/aggressionband, www.xtreemmusic.com
