Idiocracy
(Great Dane Records)

The first thing we need to know is that Finnish BLOODRIDE employs equal parts of Thrash and Groove. It’s been 21 years since the inception of the band and “Idiocracy” is their fourth full length. Released by Great Dane Records, “Idiocracy” manages to keep us interested enough. The guitar work is the highlight here, some of the solos are straight from the 90s, blitzing across the fretboard with no care or fear, BLOODRIDE simply marches on engaging a straightforward Thrash approach. When we look beyond the mere music, there are actually incredible musicians in the line-up, the guitarist Teemu is from ASTAROTH, the bassist is from DEATHMARCHED and both of them contributed time to UNSHINE. Definitely recommended for the fans of late 90s Thrash Metal, the vocals seem to be a layer above the rest which is fine but it is the musicianship that is the highlight here. Some tracks are straight through anthems which warrant headbanging of the highest order and the band goes extra length to deliver their best! BLOODRIDE is a through and through live band and I’d definitely go see them live. At just 39 minutes “Idiocracy” lives up to the expected sound and is an all through fun record! The best part of the entire album is the cover, it’s a straight through tribute to TANKARD in my opinion, it was the first thought in my mind when I saw it. Give this album a spin and I’m sure it’ll be a fun experience. For more information please visit: www.facebook.com/bloodride, www.facebook.com/greatdanerecords
