Godless

The great Danes in DEUS OTIOSUS are ready to strike back with their sophomore full length attack "Godless". The debut "Murderer" was released on the German F.D.A. Records in 2010, and gave us great blackened Death Metal with a raw Thrash Metal feel. The same can be said about this new offering, yet a brutal slab that brings us back to the glory of olden days, without this being outdated in any way. A balanced display of old school dark Death Metal, ripping thrashy guitar and straight ahead rhythm parts and more atmospheric parts leading the thoughts to melodic Black Metal from the start nineties, a profound and effective blend, that displays more and more layers as the listens become many. Even a touch of grandiose melancholy is intertwined into the black mass. This album is more balanced, than its predecessor and becomes due to that more hard hitting in the end, and more lasting, as the layers one by one is unearthed and let lose. I used quite some listens to get into this beast, though now it has unveiled its true face, it’s gonna stick in the player for a good while.
