ENDSEEKER from Hamburg, Germany make no secret who their heroes are and on their debut EP "Corrosive Revelation" show it off to the fullest extent. Here we are dealing with old school Swedish Death Metal – ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER and GRAVE are the main engines that drive this young band formed in 2014. And this imitation comes down almost to everything – riffs and sound, vocal delivery, fat bass and buzzing HM-2 guitars – on a drunken night you could mistake this for an unheard DISMEMBER EP. The tracks shift tempos from middle-paced to faster attacks, still my main gripe is that the songs don’t really have memorable riffs. Yes, they’ve got good dynamics going between slower and faster stuff, so you can have a good headbanging session, but once the track is finished, no riffs stick in your mind. Of course, bands like these were popping up everywhere in Sweden back in ’90s too, imitating Sunlight Studios sound without producing any new and fresh ideas. Nowadays there are more bands who make their own twists to the old stinky formula, like DESERTED FEAR, BLOOD MORTIZED, SLAUGHTERDAY, REVEL IN FLESH and the list could go on for much longer. On the other hand mediocre attempts are also abound. Still if you like this style and crave for new fresh meat once in a while, then you definitely need to check out ENDSEEKER. They play with conviction and 24 minutes assure that EP doesn’t overstays it’s welcome. Besides 4 original tracks, ‘Deployment Of The Aroused’ being my favourite with its HAIL OF BULLETS vibe, there’s also a NIHILIST cover ‘Supposed To Rot’ and it sits tightly with the rest of this Swedish Death Metal bonanza. And come to think, since DISMEMBER now is pretty much inactive, these German underdogs delivered a strong shot to the fans who need this stuff each year!!
