Violent Procreation
(War Anthem Records)

Well, we all know that Sweden has a lot more to offer than Death Metal. So, how about some old fashioned Thrash Metal? ENTRENCH from Västerås are already around for nearly ten years, released some demos and a first full length, “Inevitable Decay”, in 2011. Since then, original drummer Victor Holmström (who sadly passed away before the release of “Violent Procreation”) returned and second guitar player Hannes Lindkvist left, turning the band into a three piece with Fredrik Pellbrink on guitar and vocals and Joel E. Sundin on bass. After a split EP with countrymates INSANE earlier this year, ENTRENCH now present their second full strike, “Violent Procreation”. And this one starts off very fine with ‘One With Agony’, a classy thrasher with fine riffing and an overdose of speed. And that’s the way this album walks through the whole distance of 50 minutes. Thrash Metal the European way, powerful, a little bit blackened, unpolished and nearly always full speed ahead, all that garnished with raw and hoarse vocals in Mille style. For me, there’s nothing wrong with that. Yes, “Violent Procreation” is definitely nothing spectacular, neither it’s something new. It’s just stuff that sounds familiar, in a good meaning. To all those who are into good old Thrash, songs like the elaborate and rather long ‘Adjust To Summit’ or the rough ‘Senseless Slaughter’ will be a bonfire.
