Darkness Beyond

On their fourth album, these Mexican warriors have defined their music style to that of evil orthodox Black Metal, which infuses some old school Death Metal. Gone is the style they did for their first two albums that was a good MORBID ANGEL / ANGELCORPSE thing. The direction shown on their last album which was near to bands like WATAIN, DEATHSPELL OMEGA or OFERMOD is more than present in this new album. Looking to the line-up changes the band has been through, only Antimo (ex – DISGORGE) is the only member, so this is basically more his creation than anything else. A very good recording and competent musicians are the final stab in the heart of the believers with this album. The writing style in this music contains many dissonant riffs, and wicked melodies, which again recall the sounds of the aforementioned Black Metal bands. The whole album keeps the level of intensity from beginning to the end. And at times, some of the fast songs tend to remind of others, which might as well be the only flaw I can hear in here. The creativity in the riffs and the use of melody, brutality and that obscure sensation is really present in every song. At times, the music reminds me of some of the works of another great Mexican act as THE CHASM, although this in a more blackened approach. Also to notice the great vocal work, which fits the music quite well. In this case, if you like the style, or have followed the band, you cannot go wrong as this is a killer release. I mentioned that their Death Metal sound was reduced to a small part; well, it is, but when they touch it, they recall the darkest sounds once evoked by bands like UNLEASHED, GRAVE or CREMATORY in their early days. And that is setting them apart in a way. In a dark way beyond words. More information at: www.facebook.com/hacavitzofficial, www.darkdescentrecords.com
