Formed in 1990 Polish HATE for a long time stood in the shadow of the national Metal scene leaders VADER and lately highly successful BEHEMOTH. To be honest, I perceived HATE always as nothing more than a good alternative to VADER because their MORBID ANGEL inspired fast, dark and straight-forward brand of Death Metal had some obvious parallels to the figurehead of Polish extreme Metal. With its newest, fifth official full-length album HATE now are in the starting blocks to set themselves apart from the two mentioned Polish Death Metal acts, focussing on triumphant, massive hymns that dare to deviate from the concept of simple, driving VADER-like Death Metal. Skilfully using some well-dosed industrial elements, effects and samples to support the overall sinister and captivating atmosphere HATE’s newest gospel has more grandeur, more impact and feeling than their previous ones and also than the last two records of their musically closest rival. The album has no weak songs, an excellent production, enough tempo-variation, catchy passages as well as more twisted ones, crushing heaviness as well as dark, haunting melodies. “Anaclasis” is an impressive release that should satisfy fans of brutal yet atmospheric, occult and fresh sounding Death Metal.
