INSEPULTO
Undead... But Not Alive
(Iron, Blood And Death Corporation)

The Costa Rican INSEPULTO (Spanish for: “Unburied”) is one of those long running underground acts from all over the world that keep the Death Metal scene alive and well. Started thirty years ago already, the band took a serious restart after a longer hiatus in 2008 and recorded two albums since then. This year sees the release of their third full length “Undead… But Not Alive”, the first one as a duo since the bass player left INSEPULTO soon after the release of the second album, “The Necrodex”, in 2018. With no bass player at hand, guitar player Alfonso Perez took over those duties as well. But that of course doesn’t affect the qualities of “Undead… But Not Alive”. And those qualities are there for sure, as we have about 36 minutes of old fashioned Death Metal with no frills and no mercy, but a lot of passion that screams: True till Death! What I personally like most about this album is the very variable songwriting that is still far from being progressive or even overambitious. INSEPULTO seem to be mainly influenced by the old American school of Death Metal and their British counterparts, but there’s also a certain vibe of extreme Thrash Metal that’s present on “Undead… But Not Alive”. This mix should be very enjoyable for anybody into fine Death Metal, especially songs like the great ‘My Morbid Ways’, ‘Sentinels Of The Abyss’ with its stop-and-go parts and the final title track that got me with its grooving and doomy parts. So everyone out there who feels addressed will not be disappointed by “Undead… But Not Alive”.
