For over 20 years INTERNAL SUFFERING has remained true to their sound and consistent in releasing some extreme albums, that can be subjected to the genre. And that is uncompromising, fast and relentless technical brutal Death Metal in its rawest form. The Colombian combo started delivering this rawest and brutal form with their celebrated debut “Supreme Knowledge Domain”, which was recorded during 1999 – the period, when SUFFOCATION, CRYPTOPSY and ORIGIN, already carved their mark in the underground with seminal releases, now regarded as genre classics. The South American gang might also catches the fire, where speed and brutality are an absolute priority and possibly, the active machine gun nests guarding coca plantations in their native Colombia are apparently grateful inspiration to the four lunatics, where no compromise shown for any infiltrators and fire from the beginning is the mantra. And, like all South American acts from the classic periods, they showed fascinating uniqueness; as the lyrics aren’t about the usual antisocial, religion, gore, murder stuff but seem to be dealing about spiritualism, fantasy, chaos, death, demonology, and the Cthulhu mythos. Songs titled ‘Threshold Into The Unknown’, ‘Outside Dwellers’, ‘Beyond The Mystic Portal Of Madness’, ‘Evil Sorcerers’ or ‘Enter The Gate Of Death’ indicate that the Colombians were deeply subscribed to an occult mystery, not a splash of blood. However, music wise, even if they haven’t produced anything original, it’s very enticing to hear music in the original style, when it was created – in the trademark intense and passionate South American way. Also, production wise, it seems the Colombians were not fortunate like American bands in terms of studio support, which might contribute that the debut didn’t achieve any comparable respect and recognition like their US counterparts received in that time. Now, many aware and unaware fans might going sit on their asses, as after being initially released by Perverted Taste and later, re-issued by Displeased Records in 2006, a completely remastered version of the original songs including revamped layout (Aleksey Korolyov) and four exclusive bonus tracks, now made available by Satanath Records and Rotten Roll Rex. With this exclusive re-issue, this Colombian force will find many more ears, even though, so much is their influence in the community that they are even producing their own brand of 333% pure Colombian coffee – may be, only to give respite to all the exposed ones who have been and will be slaughtering their eardrums along the 31:32 minute inhuman, deafening, grotesque and tormenting course of “Supreme Knowledge Domain”. As Schenk already reviewed the original version of this album in our review section a while ago I don’t see the need to repeat what already had been said before… Just a few additional facts: this re-release comes up with four bonus tracks (from the band’s “Promo 2000”) and a slightly changed layout. The original version of “Supreme Knowledge Domain” is said to be quite difficult to find these days, so a re-issue of the album does indeed make sense. Musically INTERNAL SUFFERING deliver highspeed, frognoise Death Metal in the most extreme and brutal way (my rather small PC speakers almost collapsed while I listened to this totally devastating inferno, no joke!!) – still not my cup of tea at all (I prefer real brutality over this unnatural sounding extremity), but as there seems to be a market for bands of this kind, fans will most certainly welcome this re-release with open arms. It’s cool to see that the South American scene is still alive and well when it comes to Death Metal. I’m not solely talking about the Brazil masters of extremity KRISIUN and REBAELLIUN or Peru’s underground legend MORTEM. Also Colombia-based INTERNAL SUFFERING have to offer a real slaughter piece in gory and ultra brutal grinding Death Metal. This is a horrifying slab of sickness and utter brutality in the vein of the MORTICIAN fuckers or the Mexican sickos DISGORGE. Unfortunately INTERNAL SUFFERING have a similar problem like the last mentioned outfit on their second album “Forensick”. The production is pretty noisy and the songwriting rather dull, so some parts on “Supreme Knowledge Domain” are quite monotonous. Only recommendable for people who like the pungent stench of corpses.
