“Some days are better…” I started my day thinking about that… And all of a sudden, I hit the play button to see what this new album had to offer me. Initially, I was kind of skeptical (I must admit), but with the perfect combination of a busy day and a cup of emotional stage that I could not pay attention to, this album hit me right in the face. I tend to prefer “classic” Metal and not the one combined that much with other instruments or musicalities, but as soon as I started to listen to it, it made sense. KARG emerged from Salzburg, Austria and they go deep into the regions of what’s called Post Black Metal. They’re here to touch your feelings and (why not) change your mood if you come from a day full of Grindcore. So, be ready! “Marodeur”, released through AOP Records, is the latest chapter in a story that’s been slowly and methodically built since 2006. On this album, “Marodeur”, KARG carries a special weight, as this is the first album written as a full band, obviously adding a lot more “personality” to it. And you can hear it. Not in the sense of it being overly democratic or polished, but in the way the album breathes way more oxygen. It sounds live and emerges from five different hearts putting all their feelings together, sounding melancholic and almost like a grey cloud collapsing. The atmosphere is thick. And I’m not saying that in a suffocating way, no, but more like fog that refuses to let you look around. KARG won’t offer you escape, they will offer you a presence that will stay in a sense of tragedy and isolation. “Marodeur” will require full attention. You can be sure! It will take you to a bunch of buried melodies, fading echoes and moments of vulnerability and tension. Tracks like ‘Verbrannte Brücken’, ‘Reminiszenzen Einer Jugend’ or ‘Anemoia’ are perfect examples to describe what I mean. This is about emotions and nostalgia, like a state of mind that’s needed to look into your deepest feelings, talk to your inner being and turn you apart (at least that happened to me). Simply beautiful! That ‘s it. Check them out! www.facebook.com/kargband, www.facebook.com/aoprecs
