With KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR we have a band that crossed my path more than once. And I’m pretty sure they crossed your path before as well. Four albums and a lot of split releases, as well as a compilation and an EP grace their discography, which means that the Spanish five piece is damn well known in the extreme Metal underground. And with great justice for sure, as their raw and brutal Black Thrash Metal with a hellish dose of Punk and Hardcore never disappointed. With last years “Sharpen Your Spikes”, KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR unleashed their fifth full length album in their more than 15 years spanning career. And I can’t help, but it seems like this album really is their best up to now. Of course KÖRGULL haven’t changed their musical direction, not one bit. It just seems like they used the five years since their last album “Reborn From The Ashes” to write their finest stuff ever. Luckily this doesn’t mean that the guys in KÖRGULL started to write complex songs full of breaks and technical frills. But they brought their abilities in never taking prisoners to perfection. Take songs like the opening bloodbath ‘Prophecy Of Black Blood’, the raging title track or ‘The Black Goat Of The Woods’ as a damn good proof. And riff massacres like ‘Dawn Of The Extermination’ or ‘Sword And Sorcery’ are as great as slower songs like ‘Follow The Flame’ or the final ‘A Black Bird Is Always A Warning’. The whole three quarters of an hour of “Sharpen Your Spikes” should be a real joy for anyone into Thrash and Black Metal with fury and punkish energy.
