After 2 demo tapes in 1993 and 1995, 2 albums in 2003 and 2004 plus a split album in 2004, Norwegian Black Metallers MASSEMORD come up with their latest full-length album “12 Years Of Mass Murders”. Most songs on this album go in the typical northern Black Metal direction, except for the opener ‘Myers’ Revenge’ and the last 2 tracks ‘Welcome To Hell’ and ‘King Of The Universe’ offer a more modern Death Metal orientated style. Especially the 2 last songs come up with very experimental sounding structures as combining Industrial / Pop? synths and rhythms with heavy guitars. Sounds interesting, although this is not really my cup of tea. The Black Metallish tracks vary from fast over driving to slow parts and offer mostly cool guitar lines and riffs. All in all “12 Years Of Mass Murder” is a cool album, with some more, some less carried out experiments, but who cares… www.perishinlight.de (from a vegetarian point of view I really liked the idea of the cover picture in combination with the album’s title, but someone should nevertheless inform the band, that the correct spelling of their monicker is MASSENMORD – Frank)
