Terror from Hell Records releases the debut album, "Eucharistic Mutilations" from Italian Black Thrash Metal outfit NECROMUTILATOR. After their only demo in 2011, "The Devil Arisen", containing 7 songs, comes their debut album. In my humble opinion, this album takes a little while to grow onto you. The more I listen to it, the more I like their sound. First off, the vocals of P. (who also plays guitar) are a perfect match for their style. They mix a raspy growl with a low grunt, highly influenced by Quorthon. That alone got me into listening more and more to the album, since nowadays I get a little annoyed by the high pitched Black Metal screams; a cliché one would expect from a band playing this type of music. The production stands in the middle range. It doesn’t got to extremes. Not thin but not heavy enough. Every instrument is identifiable in the mix, which has a really good raw quality to it. The drums are surprisingly clear, with R. providing a pounding and powerful execution. E. takes care of the bottom end with another good, solid execution on his side. For a 3 piece band, these guys sound more varied and tighter than a lot of bands out there. Specially in the style of Metal they are playing, which is not a novelty. But they have the right songs, the right musicians and the right attitude. And speaking of Quorthon, the last track in this album is a great cover version of ’13 Candles’ by BATHORY. A good way of wrapping up one’s listening experience! NECROMUTILATOR deserve all the support they can get! Contact the band directly here: www.facebook.com/pages/necromutilator/221413121202401.
