With "Ripping Blasphemy" NECROMUTILATOR has released their third release. After the demo "The Devil Arisen" from 2011 and their debut "Eucharistic Mutilations" from 2014, this band from Italy continues with their mix of Thrash and Black Metal. "Eucharistic Mutilations" was a cool record with intense Metal in a very raw and heavy production. What stood out were the riffs that weren’t particularly catchy or melodic. But within the canvas of these both genres they sounded authentic in their own field and well balancing inbetween. The style executed then reminded of BESTIAL MOCKERY or DESTRÖYER 666 ("Phoenix Rising"). On "Ripping Blasphemy" the production is cleaner and much less raw (still heavy though). Despite the guitars are mixed more in the back, their melodies are becoming more clear now. And compared with its predecessor, "Ripping Blasphemy" sounds less intense and angry. Especially in the midtempo parts it sounds too modest and passive considering how agressive this style can be. Best feature of this EP are some moments in ‘Unholy Semen Of Doom’ and ‘Gate To Eternal Possession’ where the band comes up with real dark melodies. Apart from that it’s not as furious as the competition. Too bad, but maybe you’re looking for this and in that case I suggest to listen and decide for yourself. There’s still plenty of violence to find here only more dosed than we’re accustomed to. Check www.facebook.com/necromutilator-221413121202401, www.tfhrecords.com for more info.
