It was a long way for this German cult act before they finally had been in the position to release their 6th record in 25 years of existence. In detail we are talking about exactly 2172 km from their old record company in Hamburg (Remedy Records) to their new label of trust – Xtreem Music based in Madrid / Spain. Due to my lazy parents I missed the golden Thrash times and underground bands like DESASTER are my real connection to all the well known German cult acts. But your day of birth isn’t of any importance when it comes to the essence of every Metalhead – his / her metalized blood. And I promise that during the first listening session to “Revenge Of The Beast” your metalized blood will start to boil. The album has been recorded in 2007 and since the split with the their old label (rumors are talking about a certain kind of commercial disappointment – so to support the underground idea has been finally executed in Hamburg) the band has been on the quest to find a trustworthy label and finally signed a deal with Xtreem Music (founded out of the ashes of Repulse Records). So all bad things must come to an end and “Revenge Of The Beast” has been finally released in December 2008. NECRONOMICON’s music is typical German Thrash with some further ‘foreign’ influences (Spanish & acoustic guitars) which connects the band with for example scene giant GRIP INC (‘Commit Suicide’).The band’s major aim is to play live and so you should not expect any kind of extreme technical guitar duel – the focus is the headbang factor of every song. Founding member Freddy – the voice of NECRONOMICON – is doing a fantastic job because the real Thrash assaults (‘On Pain Of Death’) but much more impressing the calmer songs (‘One Universe’) are getting a further layer through is remarkable vocals. Can’t find any disappointing song and I know that this release will stay in my personal top ten for weeks. “Revenge Of The Beast” is a release with not too many edges and everybody who is looking for 50 minutes of fine German Thrash with a certain touch of Heavy Metal vibes can currently acquire no better album than this release. www.necronomicon-online.de; www.xtreemmusic.com
