Moving! I have listened to this CD so many times (and it’s not getting boring), but I still don’t really know what to say. PRIMORDIAL’s Black Metal roots are shining through, but this band just means so much more! They created their own unique style by adding that special Celtic melancholy. That does NOT mean they sound like whiny wimps, instead Alan & Co. manage to stay miles away from any Gothic touch. Sometimes I have to think of one of my favourite Power Metal bands THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG and there is a scent of ANATHEMA as well. What really impresses me about PRIMORDIAL is that their sound always comes 100% natural. This record makes the old Irish legends vivid and when you dream by moonlight you might see Cuchulain and all those tragic heroes coming alive again. As far as I can see the band isn’t singing about them, though. Who knows, if I keep listening (which I will do for sure) I might even understand William Butler Yates one day?! I really don’t want to go on about how great this album is (don’t know the older stuff too well) because one really has to experience “Storm Before Calm”!
