They say cleanliness is next to godliness. Well, SENTIENT HORROR are here to prove the Death Metal cosmos their affection for that wise saying. Stockholm (!), New Jersey’s combo’s second full-length album is a work of complete instrumental precision and a fast, no-nonsense display of passion for EDGE OF SANITY and even some CARCASS for sure. Everything in “Morbid Realms” has been carried out exactly the way you expect it, which is great for the most straight-forward deathster but a little boring for all those out there who might expect a little more from experienced players with a good bunch of other bands in their CVs (DARK SACRAMENT, BENEATH THE RED DAWN, SENTIENCE and so on). So, you have the ubiquitous Dan Swanö mastering, a monstrous cover art by Juanjo Castellano Rosado in true Dan Seagrave fashion and a stock of songs with a good flow from start to finish. Matt Moliti’s ice cold, yet immaculately perfect solos fill each track with pure guitar adoration as the two-beats, blast beats and D-Beats (as in ‘Reanimated’) stampede across the entire duration of the record. “Morbid Realms” is a nice, fluid record for people who don’t like surprises.
