Stefan’s review on SUMMON’s previous album “And The Blood Runs Black” was so enthusiastic already, that it definitely should’ve forced me to check these guys out after all… But for one reason or another (too many releases, too little time) I forgot about it again… Shame on me, cause as soon as I listened to “Fallen”, the band’s sixth album, I knew that I must have missed out on something very special for sure! I hardly find myself kneeling in front of my stereo nowadays, praising the music that blows out of the speakers because of the big amount of uninspired, lame sounding copycats that get released day by day. But with “Fallen” I was so incredibly overwhelmed for a change, that I pushed the repeat button right away as soon as the disc ended for the first time! SUMMON deliver their material with so much freshness and furiosity, that it’s a real pleasure to listen to it! I wouldn’t necessarily label them totally original, because you easily hear traces of vintage SLAYER, SARCOFAGO or early MORBID ANGEL in their writing, but that doesn’t really matter in their case… If you already freaked out on ANGEL CORPSE or the last IMPIETY disc “Paramount Evil”, this one is without a doubt another essential must-have item for your collection! The production totally crushes, the excellent cover art by Joe Petagno easily recalls the legendary “Dawn Of Possession” theme and the songs are so full of hate and aggression, yet spiced with so many killer riffs, that it’s very difficult NOT to get overwhelmed by this hellish assault! I could easily go on praising “Fallen” for hours, but would only repeat myself again and again, so I’ll keep this short instead. With “Fallen” SUMMON have spit out one of the most awesome blackened Death / Thrash Metal records lately and there’s absolutely no excuse justified to miss out on it! The first 5.000 copies will include a free DVD, with features a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound mix of the entire album as well as three SUMMON videos (two of them live!).
