TENEBRAE IN PERPETUUM

Only a few bands within 2009 have used the element of surprise for their advantage but this Italian act has definitely hit the bull’s eye. The band was completely unknown to me and the world wide web can only assist to a certain degree but the presented nearly 40 minutes of pure Black Metal are definitely essential. I’m very often complaining about the lack of new impulses within our scene and “L’Eterno Maligno Silenzio” is deeply influenced by the Black Metal of the early 90s and so right from the start not a release with any intention to offer something new. TENEBRAE IN PERPETUUM was founded in 2001 and their third release is a extreme dark trip to the roots of this style and without exaggeration is the terminus “the Italian MAYHEM” in some way fully applicable. Especially the guitars – just listen to the fourth track with one of the best guitar parts I’ve listened to for years – give this release the dark ‘face’ and the band is emphasising this haunted atmosphere with some rare clean vocals which are furthermore supported by the Italian lyrics. This release is nearly from every perspective like a normal piece of black coal – the cover artwork is far away from being unique or innovative – but everybody should keep in mind that a raw diamond is on the basis level nothing more than black coal. A great release and another prove for the growing scene in Italy. www.debemur-morti.com
