TERRORAMA
Crimes Against Humanity

Scary as it may sound, the year 2001 dawned 11 years ago, and with that year came TERRORAMA from Sweden. Like others from not only Sweden but around the globe, TERRORAMA play a hybridized style of Black and Thrash Metal, with a heavy, heavy emphasis on the Thrash. In fact I would say Thrash describes TERRORAMA better than anything else. There might be a few genuine Black Metal riffs here and there, but Thrash by and large has the lion’s share of this band’s style. ‘Inanimate Omen’ for instance, with its high velocity punishment, opens the demo. Listen to this track and you’ll hear what I mean about the Black influences: they are there, surely, but not to such a degree that you would necessarily lump TERRORAMA in with the likes of, say, early DESASTER. However, as if to try and challenge my hearing, ‘Coronation In The Scorched Land’ worms into being wrapped in a lo-fi production and structured with a simple riff and drum beat. One could certainly call this a nod to Black Metal. And again, ‘Cerebral Oviposition’ walks the line between total Thrash and the Black / Thrash hybrid of our day. ‘Cerebral Oviposition’ as it happens, became my favorite song. To conclude the demo, the band included a cover of GRAF SPEE’s ‘Of The Three Gumas Tamas’. I don’t really care for it, but surely someone else will. There’s nothing wrong with it. TERRORAMA have released material consistently since their formation but unless I’m more in the dark than I fear it doesn’t seem like many know who they are. This is a problem because TERRORAMA are good enough to deserve new fans, fresh blood. Do them (and yourselves) a favor and pick this up! Or, if failing that, avail yourselves of TERRORAMA’s two full length albums! You will not be disappointed.
