This is the second album from this Belgian band, which was formed in 1988. Originally released in 1994, it’s been re-released with additional bonus songs now. I know this band since their fantastic debut album “Fatal Exposure”, which was released in 1992 and actually traded some copies with the band itself back in the days. But I lost track of what they were doing and only heard one song around the time they released their new CD, but it sounded a bit different to what their debut was. Let me tell you that their first album was an amazing blend of Death Metal and Thrash with a bit of a technical edge here and there, but still with a violent and dark edge, not far away from early PESTILENCE or MALEVOLENT CREATION to compare it to similar bands. With time, that first CD ended up gaining a good value for collectors, and was also recently re-released. Well, this second album goes a lot more in the technical Thrash area, with some few Death Metal touches left, the last albums of DEATH being the closest comparison, but also the last SINDROME (Chicago) demo. My only complain would be the vocals that seem to sound like if they want to be tough but also more accessible… and sometimes sound forced. Musically speaking, the band is extremely competent and probably even ahead of its time. There are many crunchy riffs here and there, that sound between Bay Area Thrash / Speed Metal meets melodic Death Metal, but in a good way. Actually if the band tried to play more Thrash and less technical, it would also have a better outcome. Or if they decided to keep the more Death Metal vocals of their previous releases, it would actually benefit their sound more, as some of the quasi melodic tough vocals approaches sound a bit out of place. Still, there are so many good songs here and many good riffs, that even with all the details in here it is worthy to give it a listen. The production in good, probably a bit clean for my tastes, but taking in count when this was recorded, it is very acceptable. Bonus songs come from a demo from 1997, with a rawer sound, but the style keeps the same technical Thrash sound. As a collectors item this is a worthy addition, and more so if you like technical Thrash / Death.
