DERANGED
Obscenities In B-Flat
(Listenable Records)

Oh, I can make that short: nothing has changed on the sixth full-length, only the singer / bass-player Calle Faldt is new (which is no surpsise in the history of DERANGED). Brutal straight forward blasting Death Metal, some horror movie samples, bloody artwork, period. That simple? Yes, could be. DERANGED can easiliy be recognized among other Death Metal bands. They just play the riffs you have to play and blast the hell out of it, no fooling around with pseudo-technical stuff and melodies! The new singer sounds like Chris Barnes on “The Bleeding” or the newer SIX FEET UNDER shit… uh stuff. Very cool! My favorite records from DERANGED still are “High On Blood” for it had the best songwriting and the self-titled “Deranged” for it was and is one of the most brutal efforts in this genre. On “Obscenities…” they follow the path of the predecessor “Plainfield Cemetary” and put more variety in the songwriting. It is still mainly fast but has more mosh and crazy parts in it. After a while the songs tend to get boring but still it is a tough release you should not miss if you are into brutal Death Metal. And don’t get too fond of the new singer – I have read that he is out again – anyway, singer number five has already been recruted and is called Martin Schonherr. Man, something must be wrong with Rikard Wermen and Johan Axelsson, the drummer and the guitar-player… maybe the ARE deranged. Who knows. www.iamderanged.com, www.listenable.net.
