EXHUMED
Platters Of Splatter 1992-2002
(Relapse Records)

Wow, this is what I call value for money, two CDs filled up to the rim with delicious goregies of tasty Gore Death / Grind inspired by CARCASS, IMPETIGO, BLOOD FREAK, AUTOPSY… What the hell, I guess everybody knows what EXHUMED is about, right? This collection of their EP material, demos, splits, cover versions, Japan bonus tracks is a must for everyone into EXHUMED and especially people like me who know the band from the "Slaughtercult" album on profit from this release since now one gets a second chance to examine EXHUMED’s earlier surgeries. Most tracks are of excellent sound quality (even the ’93 and ’94 demos) and the rawness of the band’s ’92 EP "Excreting Innards" or the first demo has the same charme EXHUMED inspirators (the bands I mentioned above) had and thus are also very entertaining. It is interesting to follow EXHUMED’s steps in becoming the technically advanced and professional, mature Death Metal band they are today and since the big booklet sheet contains the cover artworks, information on the various line-ups, release dates, recordings, lots of photos and some liner notes by Matt Harvey himself the listener gets everything he needs to know about this well-done assembly of the band’s musical history. On www.exhumed.us there is the full tracklisting which shows that there will be a three-CD set of "Platters Of Splatter" available for all gorehounds, I got only two CD’s, but I think Relapse intended to make the press parasites buy this thing and doing so is hereby highly recommended! You seldom get that much Metal massacre at a time, so take your chance and support this great band an the label putting out such a high quality release. Here’s the link www.relapse.com.
