Well, to keep it short this split album contains two cases of CARCASS-worship, one with a stronger individual note in form of some Swedish Death Metal grooves and the other one being close to a mere copy with some nice songs, but a pretty boring screaming vocalist. GENERAL SURGERY’s comeback material is the sunny side of this CD whereas the TCME songs suffer from a weaker production, the aforementioned disappointing Jeff Walker-imitator and partial almost annoying unoriginality. When you give a fuck about individual elements and thirst for some old CARCASS you might like THE COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINERS despite my negative opinion… GENERAL SURGERY definitely deliver a damn strong return, the seven songs presented here simply continue the tradition the Swedish surgeons started 11 years ago. Swedish Death Metal meets early CARCASS-style Grind and sounds still rotten, dirty, sick and brutal, just the way I love it. Compared to new "CARCASS-o-philes" like IMPALED or EXHUMED the reincarnated GENERAL SURGERY might seem a little bit antique, but as long as they are good I have no problem with doing a gory little trip into the good old extreme Metal past… Check out www.razorbackrecords.com to obtain additional information on this release.
