GOD DETHRONED
Ravenous

Holy shit!!! Judging GOD DETHRONED by their newest offering “Ravenous” I guess I missed out on a real killer act over the past years. I still remember their early stuff which was kinda average Death Metal in its most primitive form. But this here is a lot different and the band obviously has come a long way ever since the release of their debut “The Christhunt”! Highly intense Death / Thrash with obvious influences ranging from vintage SLAYER to MORBID ANGEL, but always totally aggressive. That’s the way brutal music is supposed to sound. This album is not only perfectly produced and very well executed, it also features two incredible covertunes. The first being the… (forgive me for the use of the following word here) GODLY ‘Consumed By Darkness’ by Sweden’s Death Metal underground legend MACABRE END (who evolved into GOD MACABRE later on and released the awesome “The Winterlong…” CD on MBR Records in 1993), which just turned out great. And the other one being ‘Evil Dead’, from the glorious days of DEATH, which also knows to convince in GOD DETHRONED’s interpretation. Both songs fit into their own material very well and compliment a very good album even more! Give this a listen if you get the chance somewhere – you won’t be disappointed!
