New stuff from my fave German Blackies! After Twilight picked up their “Abstract Maelstrom Paragon” EP which had been highly praised by the big German Metalzines, they also put out this full length release. As much as you’ll have to read my other HIDDEN IN THE FOG reviews and buy those CDs, there is no way around “Damokles” because there is nobody around who can compete with these masters! The EMPEROR influences are less evident this time, though, while the parts with clean vocals and the acoustic bits sometimes remind me of mighty OPETH. Not really, but that’s my best shot. Oh, fuck, this passage right now on ‘Miasmic Foreboding’ obviously breathes OPETH’s beauty. Then there are those neck-breaking Thrash parts, the twisted Prog parts and of course those orgasmic symphonic parts – simply awesome! Botis’ drumming strongly supports this impression – he’s a master – not only when blasting! In case you love Progressive Symphonic Black Metal, this is gonna be your new heaven (or hell)! www.hiddeninthefog.com.
