MERCILESS DEATH
Holocaust
(High Roller Records)

Not long ago I wrote about the vinyl release of "Sick Sanctities" from these Polish Thrashers and here is the next release through High-Roller-Records. "Holocaust" contains the second demo of the band which was released for the first time in 1992 but never on vinyl before. The record starts with two minutes of a silent lead guitar solo and then turns into what we know from "Sick Sanctities" – rumbling old school Death / Thrash in the vein of early SODOM and VENOM. So you can also hear some of the early Black Metal flair. But the songs are nothing special and after listening to the whole record nothing get caught except for some parts of the second track ‘Confounded’. The production is ok, especially considering that it is the release of an old demo tape. Under the aspect that the band is one of the first Death / Thrash bands from Poland you get a nice time document. This is only stuff for real old school purists or people that are interested in the early scene from Poland. The vinyl itself is great like always. www.myspace.com/mercilessdeathpolska, www.hrrecords.de
